The New Holland LS190 was the largest machine in New Holland's LS-Series skid steer line. It is powered by New Holland's big 304 cu in (5.0L) four-cylinder diesel, the same engine family used in New Holland's 575E, 655E and 675E backhoes. With a 2,800 lb rated operating capacity, 14x17.5 tires and an optional two-speed drive that tops 12 mph, it was built for heavy loading, demolition and farm work. The later LS190.B is a different machine with different parts, so check your model decal before ordering. LS190 vs. LS190.B:

The LS190 and the later LS190.B share some axle and coupler parts, but the engines, filters and many service parts are different. Our LS190 filter service kit fits the LS190 only and does not fit the LS190.B. Read the model decal and PIN before ordering engine or filter parts.

Common Issues & Fixes:

• Engine worn out, low compression or heavy blow-by: The 304 diesel is a durable engine, but high-hour LS190s often need a major overhaul. A rebuilt 304 Genesis long block FD-304NT-IND-LB gets the machine back to work without a full teardown.
• Engine overheating or coolant leaking at the front: A worn water pump bearing or seal is a common cause. Replace with the water pump with pulley 87800714.
• Hard starting or engine dying under load: Change the fuel filters first, then check the electric fuel lift pump 87802238.
• Vibration from the front of the engine: A failed crankshaft balancer causes vibration and can damage the crank. Replace with the crankshaft balancer assembly 87802060.
• Wheel wobble or chaincase oil leaking at the axle: Worn axle bearings let the shaft move and wipe out the seal. Catch it early with the axle bearing kit B93911. If the damage has gone further, replace the axle shaft 86546632, the axle housing 86594881, or the complete axle corner assembly 87440218.
• Attachments loose on the plate: Rebuild with the coupler pin and bolt kit 87597878K or the complete quick coupler kit 86601599.

Pro Tips:

• Confirm LS190 vs. LS190.B before ordering. Engine and filter parts don't interchange.
• Check chaincase oil and wheel play regularly. The 12-quart chaincases are expensive to neglect, and bearing kits are cheap insurance.
• Keep the cooling system clean. The big 304 diesel makes a lot of heat, and a clogged radiator or tired water pump is the most common route to head gasket trouble.
• Consider a long block before a full overhaul. A rebuilt 304 long block is often faster and cheaper than rebuilding a worn engine in the shop.
