The CX25EV is Case’s battery-electric entry in the 2.5-ton mini excavator class. It runs lithium-ion energy storage in place of a diesel engine and fuel tank, with electric motors driving the hydraulic system and the dual-path hydrostatic propel circuit. The footprint, dig envelope, and operator interface are sized for the same compact-excavator duty cycles as a comparable diesel 2.5-ton machine.

In Case’s compact lineup the CX25EV sits between the smaller CX19D and the larger CX26C. Where the diesel siblings target outdoor general-purpose duty, the CX25EV is the right tool for indoor demolition, enclosed structures, urban utility work, and any site with emissions or noise restrictions.

What makes the CX25EV different

• Battery in place of engine. A lithium-ion battery pack replaces the diesel engine and fuel tank. There is no engine oil, no coolant for combustion, no fuel filter, no DPF or DEF system to maintain.
• Electric pump drive. The main hydraulic pump is driven by an electric motor, not by a belt or direct engine PTO. Hydraulic delivery is on demand and modulated electronically.
• Electric propel. Drive motors and the swing motor are part of a power-electronics-controlled circuit, with the hydrostatic dual-path drive carried forward at the wheel motor.
• Zero tailpipe emissions. No exhaust at the machine. Indoor work, enclosed structures, and emissions-restricted sites are all in play.
• Low noise. The dominant noise sources are the hydraulic pump and the cooling fans for power electronics - far quieter than a diesel.
• HV-qualified service. Battery pack, inverter, and high-voltage cabling require high-voltage qualified technicians.

Battery, electric drive, and hydraulics

The CX25EV’s lithium-ion battery pack feeds an inverter and power-electronics module that drives the main hydraulic pump motor and the propel/swing drive motors. The hydraulic circuit downstream is conventional - a main pump feeds boom, dipper, bucket, swing, and propel functions through a control valve block, with cylinders at the boom, dipper, and bucket and motors at the swing and propel circuits.

The undercarriage is rubber-track on the 2.5-ton mini frame: drive sprockets, idlers, rollers, recoil springs, and rubber tracks. The swing system uses a swing motor with reduction gearing and a swing bearing - same architecture as the diesel mini excavator siblings.
