Case CL36EV Electric Compact Wheel Loader: All-Electric Compact
The Case CL36EV is Case Construction Equipment's first all-electric compact wheel loader - a battery-powered, zero-emissions compact loader with lithium-ion energy storage, electric drive motors, and all-electric hydraulics. No diesel engine, no DPF, no DEF, and a duty cycle aimed at indoor work, urban sites, and any operation where emissions and noise matter.
Where the CL36EV fits in the Case wheel loader line
The CL36EV is the electric leaf in Case's compact wheel loader lineup, alongside diesel-powered 21F, 121F, and other Tier 4 compacts. Same compact articulated wheel loader format, but with a lithium-ion battery and electric drive motors in place of the Case diesel. The CL36EV trades the diesel's injection pump, fuel system, exhaust aftertreatment, and engine internals for a battery, an inverter, and electric drive motors - service architecture changes accordingly.

What's different about an electric compact loader
- No diesel engine. No injection pump, fuel filters, DPF, SCR, DEF tank, or exhaust system to service.
- Lithium-ion battery pack. High-voltage energy storage with a battery management system (BMS) that monitors cells, balances pack, and controls charge/discharge.
- Electric drive motors. Direct electric drive replaces the diesel + power-shift transmission.
- Electric-driven hydraulics. Loader hydraulics still hydraulic, but the pump is electrically driven instead of belt- or gear-driven off a combustion engine.
- Service architecture. HV-qualified technicians and appropriate PPE required for any work on battery, inverter, or drive-motor components.
Battery, drive motors, and hydraulics
The CL36EV replaces the Case diesel and power-shift transmission with a lithium-ion battery pack, an inverter, and electric drive motors. Loader hydraulics are still hydraulic, but the pump is electrically driven. This means a CL36EV doesn't have an injection pump, fuel filters, DPF, SCR, DEF tank, or exhaust system to service - but it does have a battery management system, high-voltage cables, contactors, and electric drive components that need their own service discipline.
The articulated frame, loader linkage, steering cylinders, brakes, and cab components are conventional compact wheel loader hardware - largely shared in concept with the diesel 21F/121F/221F/321F compacts. Bucket teeth, cutting edges, pivot pins, bushings, hose assemblies, and seal kits are the same kinds of wear parts you'd expect on any compact articulated loader.
Common service items on the CL36EV
- Battery system: Lithium-ion battery pack inspection, balancing, and replacement on schedule per BMS data.
- Drive motors: Electric drive motor inspection - bearings, seals, encoders.
- Power electronics: Inverter, contactors, high-voltage cabling - service must be performed with appropriate HV safety procedures.
- Hydraulic system: Loader cylinder seal kits, hoses, control valves, electric-driven pump.
- Articulation steering: Steering cylinder seal kits, articulation pivot pins and bushings.
- Loader components: Bucket teeth, cutting edges, bushings, pivot pins.
- Brakes: Hydraulic and regenerative brake service - disc and pad service as on diesel compact loaders.
- Cab and climate: Electric HVAC (heat pump on most EV designs), cab filtration, controls, gauges, monitor display.
- Tires: Compact wheel loader tire fitment.
- Electrical (low-voltage): 12V auxiliary system, lighting, harnesses, switches, sensors.

Need a part for your Case CL36EV Electric Compact Wheel Loader?
Call our parts team with your serial number - we'll match the right component to your machine. HV battery and drive-motor components require qualified service; we can help source the wear parts and conventional hardware.
Request a PartWhat to verify before ordering
- Serial number. Confirm the serial on the left front frame near the articulation joint before ordering year-specific parts.
- Battery generation. CL36EV battery packs and BMS firmware may see revisions - confirm by serial before ordering battery-system service parts.
- High-voltage service. Any work on battery, inverter, or drive-motor components requires HV-qualified technicians and appropriate PPE.
- Hydraulic cylinder bore. Seal kit fit depends on bore dimension - measure before ordering.
- Bucket and attachment configuration. Loader couplers and bucket sizes vary across configurations.
Why the CL36EV earns a paycheck
The CL36EV is Case's answer to demand for zero-emission compact equipment on urban sites, indoor work, and operations with emissions, noise, or air-quality constraints. No diesel exhaust, no DPF regenerations to manage, no DEF to refill, no engine oil changes - the maintenance profile is fundamentally different from a diesel-powered compact loader.
Maintenance priorities on a CL36EV: battery health management and cycle tracking, hydraulic seal replacement on the loader cylinders, articulation pivot service when slop develops, brake service when pad wear demands, and electric drive-motor inspection. Broken Tractor maintains parts coverage across the Case wheel loader family - call with your serial number and we'll point you at the right component.
