Case CL36EV Electric Compact Wheel Loader: All-Electric Compact

Where the CL36EV fits in the Case wheel loader line

The CL36EV is the electric leaf in Case's compact wheel loader lineup, alongside diesel-powered 21F, 121F, and other Tier 4 compacts. Same compact articulated wheel loader format, but with a lithium-ion battery and electric drive motors in place of the Case diesel. The CL36EV trades the diesel's injection pump, fuel system, exhaust aftertreatment, and engine internals for a battery, an inverter, and electric drive motors - service architecture changes accordingly.

What's different about an electric compact loader

• No diesel engine. No injection pump, fuel filters, DPF, SCR, DEF tank, or exhaust system to service.
• Lithium-ion battery pack. High-voltage energy storage with a battery management system (BMS) that monitors cells, balances pack, and controls charge/discharge.
• Electric drive motors. Direct electric drive replaces the diesel + power-shift transmission.
• Electric-driven hydraulics. Loader hydraulics still hydraulic, but the pump is electrically driven instead of belt- or gear-driven off a combustion engine.
• Service architecture. HV-qualified technicians and appropriate PPE required for any work on battery, inverter, or drive-motor components.

Battery, drive motors, and hydraulics

The CL36EV replaces the Case diesel and power-shift transmission with a lithium-ion battery pack, an inverter, and electric drive motors. Loader hydraulics are still hydraulic, but the pump is electrically driven. This means a CL36EV doesn't have an injection pump, fuel filters, DPF, SCR, DEF tank, or exhaust system to service - but it does have a battery management system, high-voltage cables, contactors, and electric drive components that need their own service discipline.

The articulated frame, loader linkage, steering cylinders, brakes, and cab components are conventional compact wheel loader hardware - largely shared in concept with the diesel 21F/121F/221F/321F compacts. Bucket teeth, cutting edges, pivot pins, bushings, hose assemblies, and seal kits are the same kinds of wear parts you'd expect on any compact articulated loader.
