Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Cat 230-5739 rear axle assembly fit my 416E, 420F or 430F2 backhoe?

The 230-5739 rear axle assembly is an OEM Caterpillar replacement listed for the 414E, 415F2, 416E, 416F, 416F2, 420E, 420F, 420F2, 430E, 430F and 430F2 backhoe loaders. Fitment on this assembly has serial number breaks, so check your machine's serial number against the listed ranges before ordering. If you are unsure, call (800) 909-7060 and the parts team can confirm the right axle for your serial number.

How do I know which rear axle planetary drive shaft fits my Cat backhoe?

Match the part number and confirm the shaft length, because planetary drive shaft fitment varies by measurement. Broken Tractor carries the 2227127 shaft, a 145 millimeter shaft for Carraro rear drive axle equipped Cat backhoes, and the 4550726 shaft for the 415F2 IL, 424B, 424B HD, 424B2 and 426F2. We also offer the 2234317 planetary drive shaft for the Cat 424B. Measure your old shaft and verify your axle configuration before ordering.

Which Cat backhoes use the 2612207 forward neutral reverse shifter?

The 2612207 forward neutral reverse (FNR) shifter fits the Cat 414E, 416D, 416E, 420D, 420E, 422E, 424B, 424D, 428D, 428E, 430D, 430E, 432D, 432E, 434E, 438D, 442D, 442E and 444E backhoe loaders. It covers a wide range of D and E series machines, so one part number works across many models. Match the part number on your existing shifter to be sure.

What transmission controller fits a Cat 416C or 428C backhoe?

The Caterpillar 137-8899 transmission controller fits the Cat 416C, 426C, 428C, 436C and 438C backhoe loaders. It is a drivetrain control component for C series machines. Compare the part number on your current controller with 137-8899 before ordering.

What rear axle parts does Broken Tractor carry for the Cat 424B backhoe?

We carry several rear axle parts for the Cat 424B. These include the 3208606 planetary gear, the 3318508 differential rear axle brake shaft (424B and 424B HD), the 2159546 wheel carrier gear and the 4550726 and 2234317 planetary drive shafts. We also offer the 2087788 planetary ring gear for Carraro rear drive axle equipped Cat backhoes. Confirm your axle configuration and serial number before ordering.
