Kenny Broussard

Sales Specialist out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Spent eight years selling cars before crossing over to parts — brought the patience and the picture-asking with him.

Kenny Broussard at the Baton Rouge sales desk

Kenny Broussard grew up running Case International farm tractors. Eight years selling cars happened in between, but the through-line of his life has always been a tractor in the field somewhere, and these days the line goes both directions: he sells parts for them by day and works in his garden behind a Cub Cadet on the weekends.

He came to Broken Tractor wanting to try parts sales after a long run on the car-dealership side, and the move stuck. Three-plus years on the counter, and he's now one of the most active reps on the Baton Rouge floor — specializing in modern John Deere construction equipment, Bobcat hydraulics, and the older Case dozers and backhoes that have always been his favorite kind of machine to talk about.

What you'll catch him working on

Kenny's days run from $300 in-stock JD pinion shafts to multi-thousand-dollar swing bearings on JD 270CLC excavators. He spends a lot of time on JD construction parts (the AT- and RE- prefix world that drives most modern excavator and skid-steer fleets), Bobcat hydraulic drive motors and pumps, and older Case 580C and 580K parts where the customer is usually trying to keep a machine they love running for one more season.

He also handles a fair amount of international and forwarded-freight calls. If you're calling from Mexico or Canada and need a part shipped to a U.S. freight forwarder, Kenny's the rep who's done the dance enough times to walk you through it cleanly.

How he runs a parts call

Kenny's pattern is consistent and a little old-school: ask the brand, ask the model, then — and this is the part most reps skip — ask if the customer can send a picture of both the part and the machine. He's been at this long enough to know that what someone describes on the phone and what's actually on the bench are often two different things.

It's a habit that came partly from car sales and partly from the parts counter. Either way, it saves customers from sending parts back, and it saves Kenny from quoting the wrong thing twice.

The mistake he sees most

"Most customers don't have the machine serial number or model info. They just assume by picture that the part will fit."

It almost never does. The same JD 35D excavator can take different swing motors depending on the dash number. The same Case 580C might be a 1979 with a 207 engine or a later one with a different head casting. A part that looks right is the part that gets shipped twice: once to the customer, once back. Kenny's whole approach is built around stopping that loop before it starts.

What Kenny wants you to have ready Make, model, full machine serial number, and — if you can swing it — a photo of the part next to the machine. Your future self will thank you.

Off the clock

Kenny grew up on Case Internationals. These days he's still on a tractor, just a smaller one — his Cub Cadet garden tractor, putting in a vegetable garden every spring. If he had to pick one machine to own forever, though, he doesn't even hesitate:

"It'd be a Case tractor."

Working on a JD, a Bobcat, or an older Case?

Kenny's the right call. Three years on the counter, eight years before that learning how to slow down and get the details right, and a vendor network for the parts most reps don't want to chase.
