Engine, hydraulics, and undercarriage

The 850L's Final Tier 4 PowerTech 6090 engine powers the hydrostatic dual-path drive system, the implement hydraulic circuit, and steering hydraulics. The 6090 is JD's heavy-class 6-cylinder diesel - used across the 850 dozer line, large wheel loaders, and forestry machines.

The implement hydraulic circuit drives a 6-way blade on most configurations, with cylinder bore and stroke matched to the heavy-class blade dimensions. The undercarriage carries the JD-pattern heavy-class sealed-and-lubricated track chain in standard or LGP configurations.
