Case 721C Wheel Loader: 1999-2005 C-Generation Production Wheel Loader
The Case 721C is the 1999-2005 C-generation of Case's 721 production wheel loader - refined driveline and hydraulics versus the B-series, with mechanical service architecture and pre-emissions engine controls.
Where the 721C fits in the Case wheel loader line
The 721C is the C-revision of Case's 721 platform, slotting between the 721B and the 721D. C-gen refined the driveline and hydraulic components versus the B and shares brake, articulation, and cab service parts with same-generation 521, 621, and 821 wheel loaders.
The 721C is a mechanical-architecture machine: power-shift transmission, piston-pump loader hydraulics, articulated frame, and a Case inline diesel running pre-Tier emissions hardware. That makes it serviceable with conventional shop tools and well-supported in the parts aftermarket.

What changed from the 721B to the 721C
- Driveline. Refined power-shift components and clutch-pack updates versus the B for smoother range changes and longer service life.
- Hydraulics. Updated piston-pump and control-valve specifications on the loader circuit.
- Cab and controls. Refined operator station, updated gauges and control levers versus the B-series cab.
- Cross-fit parts. Many brake, articulation, and steering components carry across same-generation 521, 621, 721, and 821 machines - useful for sourcing.
Engine, hydraulics, and drivetrain
The 721C runs a Case inline diesel through a power-shift transmission to planetary final drives at each axle. Loader hydraulics use a piston pump feeding mechanical or electrohydraulic control valves and direct-acting cylinders on the lift and bucket circuits. Service brakes are wet-disc inboard units on the axles.
The articulated frame uses upper and lower pivot pins with bushings at the center joint, with a single steering cylinder per side driving articulation. Pivot pin and bushing wear is the dominant articulation-service item across the C-generation Case wheel loader family.
Common service items on the 721C
- Engine internals: Case diesel pistons, rings, sleeves, bearings, gaskets. The R49482 engine motor mount is a recurring Case diesel service item.
- Fuel system: Injection pump, injectors, lift pump, primary and secondary filters, water separator.
- Cooling system: Radiator, water pump, thermostat, fan, hoses, belts.
- Loader hydraulics: Cylinder seal kits, pump rebuilds, control valves, hoses.
- Articulation steering: Steering cylinder seal kits, articulation pivot pins and bushings. The G109152 steering cylinder bushing fits 521F, 621, 721, and 821 series machines.
- Loader components: Bucket teeth, cutting edges, bushings, pivot pins.
- Drivetrain: Power-shift clutch packs, transmission service, axle seals, planetary final drives. A transmission shift lever assembly is available for service.
- Brakes: Wet-disc service brakes. The 119433A1 lined brake disc and 119430A1 brake disc fit 621B/721B/821B with ZF axles. The S300718 brake shoe, A12985 slave cylinder, and N8695 master cylinder are recurring brake service items.
- Electrical: Starter, alternator, wiring harness, gauges, switches.
- Cab and operator station: Seat, gauges, control levers, cab parts. The 47880728 cab fresh-air filter fits cab-equipped units.

Need a part for your Case 721C Wheel Loader?
Brakes, articulation pins and bushings, and loader hydraulic seal kits are the highest-volume items on a 721C. Call our parts team with your serial number and we will match the right component to your machine.
Request a PartWhat to verify before ordering
- Generation matters. The 721 platform ran B, C, D, E, F, and G generations - confirm by serial before ordering year-specific parts.
- Machine serial. Confirm the serial on the left side of the main frame near the articulation joint before ordering.
- Engine serial. Case diesel internal parts must match the engine serial.
- Axle variant. ZF-axle units use different brake discs than non-ZF configurations.
- Cab vs. ROPS canopy. Operator station equipment and cab-specific filters vary.
Why the 721C still earns a paycheck
The 721C is the C-revision production wheel loader from 1999 to 2005. Pre-Tier 4 emissions, mechanical service architecture, and strong cross-fit on brake and articulation components across the 521/621/721/821 family make it a practical machine to keep working. Most service work can be handled with conventional shop tools and aftermarket parts coverage remains strong.
Maintenance priorities on a 721C: clean fuel and quality filtration, hydraulic seal replacement on schedule, articulation pivot service before the bushings hog out the bores, and brake service whenever the wet-disc pack starts grabbing. Broken Tractor maintains parts coverage for the C-generation alongside the broader 721 family.
